Biography

Dr. Anil Narine was born in Edmonton, Alberta (Amiskwaciy Waskahikan) and grew up in Kelowna, British Columbia (Syilx Okanagan Territory). Following a 10-year career teaching post-secondary students at the University of Toronto he entered the academic adminstration sector, specializing in research and project management. He currently lives in beautiful Victoria, BC (traditional territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples).
Most recently, he held the role of Research and Grants Facilitator at the University of Victoria for the Faculty of Education. Previously, he served as a Research Lead for the Centre for the Study of Black Canadian Diaspora at OCAD University.
He continues his research practice, examining representations of historical trauma and representations of climate disaster.
